A Pioneer’s Farmhouse2“When we had finished the house about two years ago, it did seem very big for just the two of us. Many friends convinced me it could be a beautiful, restful place for people to come and stay overnight or for a weekend. So we started to do bed-and-breakfast. I will also cook dinner and lunches if needed; we grow all our own vegetables and herbs. I’ll supply carafe wine, or people can bring their own.” The master bedroom’s, where mellow old stone and timber are the perfect setting for a fine patchwork quilt. Massive ceiling beam had to be installed to take the load of the attic room above. Guests’ living room has a cozy open fireplace, chairs covered in old silks. A not her patchwork quilt, Old Persian’s rug wall hangings and hurricane lamps add charm to guest bedroom — where the window had been completely blocked up. Paying guests can spend restful weekends at rural Brook side, only a 75 km drive south of Adelaide,

Imaginative and efficient outdoor illumination using Philips bollard light’s. Gardens lamps are attached to water pipes, to highlight the plants. Kempton’s recessed Dark-lighter Down-light with gold reflectors light the garage area, and dramatize a bank of greenery; and another (semi-recessed) lamp brightens the entrance walkway. A pretty Sydney building shines a welcome from every window while a pole-mounted globe lights the path to the front door.
